Professional organizations contribute significantly to teachers' continued development. As a member of a professional organization, you will receive one or more journals as part of your membership. Reflective practitioners use the articles in professional journals to support their teaching.
Locate at least two articles in a high-quality journal (or a book chapter) in literacy or in your content area that address literacy or literacy strategies in your discipline. The articles you choose should be relatively recent.
Read the articles and write a brief summary and a response for each one. The 3-5 page paper must be typed and double spaced.
Include in your summary (1-2 paragraphs):
• What was the article about?
Include in your response (2-3 paragraphs):
• What did you find interesting in the article?
• Strengths and/or weaknesses of the author’s claim/suggestion
• Your recommendation for use
Attach a copy of the article to your write-up.
Use APA style to cite the article reference information.
